Developer-first link integrity for the modern web.
Broken Link Checkers was built to provide an instant, frictionless, and completely free diagnostic engine that uncovers dead hyperlinks, wasted crawl budgets, redirect latency, and broken anchor fragments before they damage search rankings or user trust.
The Problem with Broken Links & Legacy Checkers
Every day, billions of hyperlinks break across the web. Content is relocated, legacy products are decommissioned, third-party sites expire, and URL parameters shift. This progressive decay—known as link rot—silently erodes search visibility, inflates bounce rates, and drains Googlebot’s allocated crawl budget on dead ends.
Unfortunately, existing link checking software fell into two frustrating camps:
- Clunky desktop utilities: Require local machine installations, choke on modern Single Page Applications (SPAs), and lack automated DOM anchor fragment verification.
- Aggressive paywalled SaaS scanners: Force users to create accounts, restrict audits to tiny 50-page limits, bombard webmasters with sales calls, or trap critical data behind steep monthly subscriptions.
We believed webmasters, SEO agencies, and software engineers deserved a modern alternative: an instant, browser-grade web crawler that requires zero signup, solves the anchor hash verification problem, and provides actionable terminal diagnostics.
How Our Scanner Engine Works
Our crawler pipeline runs on a lightweight, distributed Node.js engine optimized for concurrent HTTP requests and full DOM HTML parsing:
We parse target HTML documents to locate anchor tags, internal navigation links, and outbound references without executing bloated tracking scripts.
Links pointing to #pricing or #docs are verified against target document element IDs so visitors don’t hit broken scroll targets.
Every 301 and 302 hop is cataloged to isolate latency bottlenecks, preserving Core Web Vitals (TTFB/LCP) by linking straight to canonical endpoints.
Server responses returning HTTP 200 with "Page Not Found" content are flagged to protect your crawl budget from indexing ghost pages.
Our Guiding Principles
1. Absolute Transparency & No Captcha Walls
You should never have to solve puzzle captchas, enter credit card details, or wait in artificial queues just to check whether your website’s hyperlinks work.
2. Ephemeral, Privacy-Respecting Architecture
We don’t maintain databases of your page content or monetize your customer traffic. Crawl results exist solely in-memory for your active session.
3. Reproducible Terminal Diagnostics
Every failing URL comes with an exact, copyable curl -I -L command so software engineers can reproduce and fix bugs in their local shell environment.
